Friday, July 4th: Gillette, WY or ... Celebration time!

Enjoy your last day of sleeping till 7 am, woman. Tomorrow the morning rush will start again. But lets first stick to today. It's July 4th - Independence Day - also in Gillette, WY. The hotel people are kind enough to let us leave or luggage in our room, while we head to the center of town. It's only a few blocks walking - they said, but of course one block can mean that we have to cover a great distance. I'm sitting in the handlebar bag, waving my American flag. The parade just started. Kids are holding green plastic bags to collect all the candy thrown on the streets. There's plenty funny things to see: kids on their bmx-bikes,

grown-ups on small bikes

old-timers, one or two bands, and then their is this special group: the one I liked the most

the dogs! We also get some bottled water,a thing greatly appreciated in this hot weather. The whole parade took almost 1hr30. It was getting time to return to the hotel.

Once there, we waited patiently in the lobby. My woman started watching the soccer game: Brasil - Costa Rica, but very soon a Cyclel America van stopped. A new face welcomed us: the woman's name is Vicky. Well - she took us on a sight-seeing tour through Gillette - a town that was bigger than I thought. At the school a familiar smell came to me: this woman goes by the name Shuli and it's very wise to be good friends with her - she takes care of the picnic food! Another familiar smell: Tom, NY Tom! And of course - the leader of the pack: Gregg.

Meanwhile my woman sets up the Green Turtle - hoping it will do fine in rain. Cyclists roll in and I try to learn as many smells as possible. Hopefully they are dogfriendly persons.
